What The???

Good gracious; it has been a week since i posted a blog. Guess that's what happens when you bury yourself into your work.. heehee!  NOT EVEN! :)  I think Melissa and I had such a productive week last week, that when it came time for me to go home for the evening, I didn't have free time to write my lil tidbits!

... thinking to self..."hmmm... are Melissa and I the only people in this world reading this?"

Well anyway... I have a very enlightening, productive, and stressful learning situation; which of course I brought upon myself.  You see, on this one 'monster of a website' that we work on there is a never-ending bottomless pit of information. And i say never-ending because just when we think we figured out how the original designer set up the site and where all the plug-ins for the information are located:  WE FIND MORE FOLDERS; WITH MORE INFO; WITH MORE "INCLUDES" AND MORE PLACES WHERE WE HAVE TO UPDATE JUST ONE PIECE OF INFORMATION.

What we have is the Black Hole! The World Wibe Web Black Hole.. a.k.a.  What The??

Yep. It's frustrating! and I just realized I went off on my own lil tangent there. I was supposed be talking about what I conquered! Well here it is... On some webpages, there are menus below menus that have pull-down tabs with links, etc. The tabs themselves are not difficult to figure out... UNLESS I'm working on the "above-referenced" website. I will make a long story short... I created a couple new pages from scratch, included all the navigational codes, and made the landing webpage url read so it doesn't have ".html" at the end.

To some people, this may not seem even worth writing about. But to me... it's a huge breakthrough! I finally get it! Thanks in huge part to Melissa just letting me run with it, get my hands dirty a lil bit, watching me through her window as I bang my head on my desk saying, " I don't GET IT!!!"

But now I do. :)

So Close...

This picture depicts exactly how my day is going...

So close and yet so far.

Just when I need the internet to NOT misbehave, it does exactly that. I've got a News Brief that goes out on Wednesday's; however, there won't be one going out this Wednesday. Actually, I can't blame the entire "net" because I am able to log on here and vent. Just having issues with my hosting/website updating program and the site for which the newsletter is for.

On a lighter note, I was reading how airports across the country are hiring sheep and goats for weed control. That got Melissa and I thinking... What if we bought a couple goats or sheep, bought a cool lil sheep wagon (as shown below) and hired out our sheep at our local airport. We could settle into a wireless zone, take turns herding our sheep to greener weeds while the other worked on websites from the laptop.  Little Goats for the Web... or some catchy lil business name... Website Weed Wackers... hmmm.. think we got something there.

Or not. :)

The Animal Inside Us...

Everyone has certain animal characteristics. It's a common fact. What animal you are solely relies on one person... YOU. You are not locked into one specific animal either... one day you may be feeling like a small lil mouse and the next day you are the cat that is stalking that mouse!

Today, Melissa and I definitely are feeling our animal traits coming out.

Honey Badger
Whoa, watch out says that bird! Melissa is definitely the honey badger today. If you have ever seen the clips on youtube about the honey badger (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4r7wHMg5Yjg), you know exactly what we are talking about. This animal is fearless, will stop at nothing to get what he wants, and once he gets it, he pretty much devours it. Now, I am not saying Melissa is a savage, but she set out to get an important document out today, and accomplished that goal! WAY TO GO!!

Meerkat

What should I do next??? Where do I get that??? Who said that???  Yep, that's me today. The Meerkat. Animal Planet had a series on showcasing this lil guy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_eVEW_Y02o) called Meerkat Manor. This animal is always on the go, on the lookout, watching over his mates, covering all aspects of life at the "manor". Today, I was that animal. I took the place of being "go to gal" for one of our clients, much to Melissa's glee!!  That's what I'm here for... I got your back!

Who knows what animal will be coming out of us tomorrow... hopefully not this guy...

Ahhhhhhh...

It is definitely one of those days where you just want to kick back, put your feet up, maybe drink a hot chocolate, watch a movie...

Okay, wait, I can't be thinking of that right now while I'm at work!

This week has gone by pretty quickly here in the office. News brief's, e-blasts, updates to websites, all going pretty smoothly and on time.  Yay us! And then just when I think things are "hunkey dorey", I run into "div tags" on a website. Why don't people like to use TABLES anymore!!? I just don't get them, understand them, or want to deal with them... Unfortunately, we are relucantly reliable <<< there's that phrase again!!

I've been wondering whether or not installing a padded room is a good idea for office atmosphere.  I actually think it would be productive!! Can't get your head past that code that's had you stumped for an hour? Go bang your head in our room to clear it out... I bet you get the code figured out and you have little risk of head injury!

Of course, you can always do the opposite thing...

This guy right here has the right idea...

DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

I will keep you up to date on the status of our possible new room... Until then, it's back to the wide world of the web!

Uh Oh...

Wednesday's have always been kinda crazy in here... but today takes the cake! I didn't get here til a lil before 11:00 this a.m. and I walked into what should be a "padded" room.

Poor Melissa. The newsletter she has been working on is beating her up. Well, not the newsletter itself, just the fact that info keeps coming in and she has to keep reformatting. So, as my punishment (mind you.. I've done nothing wrong.. she even said so!) she is going to hand-off the newsletter to me. I DISAGREE!!  :)  I am not skilled in the area of InDesign and each time I've tried, I've made myself even more crazy than I already am! But because I am "Reluctantly Responsible", if she does hand it off to me... I will do my best! I actually think she would enjoy seeing me struggle a lil bit, because for some reason she seems to think I pick things up fairly quickly.  Now I'm thinking to myself, Why do I have to be an overachiever!!

Today there will be another art lesson in our office. Not for us. Her kids have art lessons from time to time in here and I hate the fact I am going to miss it. Her children, Paige and Aria, are so energetic and full of life, and they literally say what they are thinking. Last art lesson I got to experience involved Aria, the younger one, making comments about farting and who did it. She also likes to challenge the teacher. She was told to do something one way, and her response: "Well, I think I will do it this way." I love her!!

Regardless of how crazy of a day it has been in here, I've been smiling non-stop. Few people in this world are lucky to have a job that they actually enjoy going to. I've been blessed to work here for over a year and I would not change one minute of it.

I will just remember to wear my comfy clothes tomorrow... Probably going to be another "padded cell" day!!

Just Keep Swimming!!

If anyone out there knows anything about kids movies, they know what movie this post's title comes from. NEMO! Good ole Dorey has such an easy going outlook on life... no matter what she encounters, she just keeps swimming. :)

Today, here in the office, that is our motto. It never fails that just when you think you have something completed, something new comes your way that needs to be added. A newsletter we are working on is just that "something". Gotta love Melissa tho and how she handles everything... Surprisingly, I haven't heard her whack her "dammit doll" too much! I'm just glad I can help with whatever she needs me to do.

When we got ready to leave the office friday, we had a great epiphany (an experience of sudden and striking realization). We are Reluctantly Responsible! No matter what we face, and how much it may grind on our nerves, we will always be the one's to get it done.

And now... back to swimming......
